Equally, if you are a beginner as I am when it comes to painting projects, Steph has the knack to get the information across in a manner that would make you feel proficient enough to undertake this project. The course was pitched exactly right and given time allowed a single shaft automaton is probably as complicated as a single day will allow, especially when you take into account painting and glue uptime. At no point did I feel this course was beneath my ability, despite as I say extensive experience, albeit self-taught. Steph is a very methodical tutor ensuring each step is carried out in the relevant order, and able to provide hints and tips on the best way to achieve this. My workshop is located on the 1st floor (accessible only by stairs, no lift available). Please note that the course is held in my workshop, which is located at “Freestone Studios”, a warehouse in the St Philips area of Bristol home to an eclectic mix of artists, fashion designers, makers and creatives. Since then I designed, built and sold dozens of automata. I started designing and building automata in 2013, when I was living in Bangkok. I am Italian and because of my previous job I lived in many different Countries. Children aged 14 and over may attend if accompanied by a participating adult. Please note that due to the potentially dangerous use of power tools, this course is unsuitable for those aged under 14. Suitable for absolute beginners as well as those who may already have some experience. Participants can expect to finish the day with a lovely, fully functioning one-shaft mechanical toy.
